In his wanderings, between Paris and Berlin Laurent POLEO-GARNIER eclectic artist, photographer, videographer, dancer and performer searches for himself and sometimes finds others.
His photos are the trace of meetings, relationships that he initiates with chosen and cherished models. Staging them, taking care of every detail from make-up to styling, he thus creates a sentimental family and his photos become precious archives, document of a moment, of a story with his model, moment of exchange and projection. simultaneously, offering new self-knowledge.
His numerous self-portraits reveal his taste for the theatrical form and pay homage to visions of periods fantasized and reinterpreted to anchor themselves in the present.
Dance and movement complete its expression of gentle violence. Performing almost naked, dancing everywhere or parading in drag queen the city is his territory.
Self-mockery, nostalgia, pastiche, winks are numerous to those who inspire him.
Through the metamorphosis of his models and his own Laurent POLEO-GARNIER questions identity and intimacy, the relationship in a multidisciplinary practice.
Photographe italienne, née à Paris, Veronica Mecchia grandit à Milan où elle se forme simultanément à l’histoire de l’art ainsi qu’à la photographie auprès de Giuliana Traverso à la Galerie «Il Diaframma» de Milan.
En 2003, elle revient à Paris où elle poursuit sa formation d’histoire de l’art avant de se consacrer entièrement à la photographie.
Sa filiation artistique avec le photographe Arno Rafael Minkkinen dont elle a été l’élève en Italie (1997/1998) et qu’elle considère comme son mentor se traduit par une propension impérieuse à entretenir un lien organique avec la nature.
Son travail photographique en noir & blanc explore la relation de l’homme à son environnement dans une version personnelle. À travers des choix artistiques affirmés : argentique, autoportrait, noir & blanc, nudité ; elle imprime son état d’esprit et révèle une identité unique au caractère universel.
S’inscrivant dans l’éphémère avec poésie, comme absorbée par la beauté des choses ou des lieux qui l’émeuvent, Veronica Mecchia nous incite, par ses photographies, à suspendre le temps dans une douce contemplation et nous laisse le cœur léger, l’envie comme elle, d’habiter poétiquement le monde.
Présentés lors de nombreuses expositions personnelles et collectives, ses photographies et ses livres d’artiste sont présents dans des collections particulières en Italie, France, Belgique, Allemagne, Grèce, Etats-Unis, Suisse et Japon.
Son livre d’artiste “Fotografie” (Paris, mai 2016) ainsi que deux de ses photographies intègrent le fond “anti-Aufklärung 2019” et sont acquis par la Bibliothèque Kandinsky du Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris).
